Jude Rae

Here’s artist Jude Rae with “Catherine O’Donnell’s lovely drawing called Rachel’s Window #3, 2017, which I bought from May Space at the Sydney Contemporary in the same year,” says Jude. “It is very refined yet marvellously restrained, even austere. The unusual mount (the dropped window of the matt) reminded me of similar presentation I’d seen of Morandi’s prints and drawings in Bologna, and the imagery recalls my own early interest in the formal delights of drapery and concealment!”

“A painting by Callum Innes from 2008, similar in pigmentation to many of the paintings exhibited at the Museum Of Contemporary Art Australia in the following year. It was an artist’s swap (Callum chose a composition of fire extinguishers in exchange) and it’s a completely inadvertent match for the colour of my bedspread!”
