The annual Mil-Pra Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) exhibition and art prize promotes the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in their region. Entries are accepted from all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who live in NSW and the ACT. Each year a theme is selected by the prize. For example, in 2022 the theme was ‘For our elders’.

The Different Award Categories
The main prize is the $1,000 Mil-Pra AECG award, which is open to artists whose work celebrates the history and spirit of the Mil-Pra AECG Exhibition. The $500 Bruce & Carol Kendall OAM Memorial Award is open to all artists. The Maria Lock Acquisitive Award is in recognition of Maria Lock, the first Aboriginal woman to be granted land. The Major’s Choice Acquisitive award is selected by the Mayor of Liverpool City Council for the Liverpool City Art, Heritage and Local Studies Collection. The Kari award is sponsored by Kari Aboriginal Inc. The $500 Kate Nickolas Liverpool Women’s Services Award is open to female artists only and is sponsored by Liverpool Women’s Resource Centre, Liverpool Women’s Health Centre and South West Women’s Housing. In addition, the student awards include Primary, Secondary, Family and Early Childhood Art award and the $100 Student Group Prize.
