The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize is a regional art competition, attracting artists from far and wide. This annual event has been running for over 30 years and has an open theme. It is an acquisitive prize exhibition, with artists having the opportunity to win from the $36,000 prize pool of 12 categories. Since 2018, the Goldfields Arts Centre has been the home of the Art Prize exhibition, allowing the exhibition space to grow, providing opportunities for artists to exhibit their work in a premier arts facility of the Goldfields.

The Different Award Categories
The awards include the $20,000 Acquisitional Major Prize, the $3,000 First Nations Art Award, the $3,000 Best Artwork by a Kalgoorlie-Boulder Resident, the $2,000 Emerging Young Artist Award and the $2,000 Emerging Artist Award. In addition, the judges allocate the $1,000 Best Painting award, the $1,000 Best Photography award, the $1,000 Best 3D prize, the $1,000 Best Mixed Media & Textile prize and the $500 Golden Hands Award. Finally, visitors of the exhibition select the $500 People’s Choice Award.
