The Rick Amor Self Portrait Prize is sponsored by prominent Australian artist, Rick Amor. The prize was conceived to honour Rick Amor, a significant Australian artist, who is best known for his evocative paintings, concerning the passage of time, alienation and disconnection. He has been practicing his craft in Melbourne for around five decades and was an official War Artist to East Timor appointed by the Australian War Memorial. Amor has produced an extensive and consistent body of work, much of which is psychologically incisive.

The Different Award Categories

The winner of the non- acquisitive $20,000 Prize is announced at the exhibition opening. In addition, all visitors during the exhibition period have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award of $1,000, sponsored by Montsalvat, which is then announced after the conclusion of the exhibition.
