Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarships

The annual Samstag Scholarships enable Australian artists to develop their artistic capacities and skills through a dedicated period of practice-based learning in an international learning institution of their choice.
Awards
Each scholarship covers reasonable costs for twelve months overseas, including:
- institutional fees for one academic year of study (where applicable)
- a tax-exempt stipend of $75,000
- return airfares
- travel and medical insurance
Judges
Successful applicants will be selected in Adelaide by a selection committee comprising the Head/Director and a senior academic staff member of the South Australian School of Art and one practising artist not employed by the University of South Australia.

Previous successful applicants include Elyas Alavi, Madison Bycroft, Sean Cordeiro & Claire Healy, Mikala Dwyer, Shaun Gladwell, Archie Moore, Nike Savvas, Georgia Saxelby, Soda Jerk, Angela Valamanesh and Jemima Wyman.
Past recipients have studied at prestigious arts institutions across the globe including the Royal Institute of Art, Sweden; Academy of Fine Arts, Czech Public, Glasgow School of Art; Goldsmiths, University of London; Universitat der Kunst, Berlin; and the Parsons New School of Design, New York. For Artists
What you need to know
All applicants must be:
- either an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia
- at least 18 years of age
- a student currently enrolled in a practice-led visual arts program at an Australian institution of higher education, and have successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate or post-graduate degree OR a graduate of a practice-led visual art undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification at an Australian institution of higher education
