Arts Connect Inc’s annual event, Sculpture on the Edge, is back for its 15th celebratory year. Sculpture on the Edge was initially a collaboration with Maleny Garden Club’s Open Gardens Festival in 2010. That success led to a stand-alone event in 2011 sponsored by the Spicers Group. In 2022 the event was relocated to Flaxton Gardens to allow expansion to incorporate indoor sculptures.
The Prize is an opportunity for artists to showcase their talent at Flaxton Gardens in the picturesque Sunshine Coast Hinterland and gain exposure to a diverse audience of art lovers, collectors, galleries, admirers of beauty and the curious. All sculptors selected to exhibit will have their sculptures on display, and available for purchase, for the entirety of the event.
Sculptors are encouraged to submit details of their work online to be selected for the exhibition and participate in the competition. The 2024 program includes the annual exhibition, competitions for sculptors and visitors, workshops open to everyone, sculptor talks and celebrations to create a fun and creative experience for all visitors. Around 6,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2024 edition of the Prize.
Judging will take place on the 22nd November with winners announced the same day. Each sculpture will be judged by an expert panel for visual impact and interest as well as quality.
Arts Connect Inc is a volunteer-run, membership-based, not-for-profit group.
