Eligibility: Open to women artists resident in Australia during the twelve months preceding the closing date for entries, and are over 18 years. Other eligibility requirements apply for the Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize.

The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize is the highest value art prize for women in Australia and provides a unique platform to engage, connect, support and profile women artists across Australia and internationally. The Prize also showcases a commitment to celebrating emerging Indigenous women artists and promoting their creative talents on a national stage.
Launched in 2017, the Art Prize has grown exponentially and gained significant recognition. The 2025 Art Prize received 1934 entries across the three categories (Professional, Emerging and Indigenous Emerging) representing artists from every state and territory of Australia. The Art Prize Opening Night in Gordon, Sydney is further supported with a three-week Exhibition of Finalists and a virtual Exhibition tour online to encourage visitation and artwork sales.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2026 , the Australian Women’s Art Prize was established by Ravenswood School for Girls to advance art and opportunity for women artists in Australia. It is an annual acquisitive prize, with total prize money of $58,000.
The Art Prize is supported by generous partners: Taylor, The Marshall Group, Trippas White Group, R.M Williams Outback, Active Networks, The Australian, Guardian and Scarborough Foundation, The Reed Family Foundation, Clarke Murphy Print, Community Bank Lindfield, Ku-ring-gai Council, Kelvin Hall Floral Design, EPM Projects, Derivan, The Art Scene and Edwina Palmer.
Categories
The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize is an acquisitive prize, with a total prize pool of $58,000 which will be split between the Professional Artist Prize winner ($35,000), Emerging Artist Prize winner ($7500 – supported by The Reed Family Foundation), and Indigenous Emerging Artist Prize winner ($7500 – supported by Guardian and Scarborough Foundation). There is also a People’s Choice Award of $2000 (supported by Edwina Palmer) plus a Derivan art pack valued at $500. New in 2025, six Highly Commended Awards (two for each category) of $1000 each (supported by Community Bank Lindfield) will also be awarded.
