Daniel Mudie Cunningham
“Ron Adams @ronadams1323 made this painting for Dress Code in 2005 – the first of many shows I curated at MOP Projects in Sydney,” says Daniel Mudie Cunningham, curator and director, programs at Carriageworks. “It was Ron’s first ever text painting, so it is a significant watershed in his practice. Personally, I feel like it speaks to past dental trauma as I had buck teeth as a teenager! To our great fortune, Ron gifted the work in 2017 to my husband Elliott and I, and it is currently displayed in our dining room (though recently it has become a video backdrop to many Skypes and Zooms now that working from home is a Covid-19 reality).” Adams is represented by Sydney’s Galerie pompom.
